Throw In – Goal line
Umpires need to keep on positioning on the goal line to have the best vision possible as the ball moves from pocket to pocket and in and out the goal circle (subtle movements). When the ball goes out of court and the players are not aware that they have stepped off court while in contact with the ball, the umpire will blow the whistle and say:
Out of Court – Throw In – “and the teams name who need to take the Throw In” …. In all situations where players know the ball is out of court, the umpire will only say Throw In and the teams name. No need for Out of Court. Less is better. And remember NO whistle!
Also no need for a direction arm (you are staying on the goal line so it is obvious the Throw In is for the attacking side) – only use the arm to indicate the area where the Throw In is to be taken.
With a Throw In for the attacking side on the goal line try to position near the goal post or on the opposite side of the player taking the Throw In. Never stand in the area outside the goal circle in the near side pocket.
Who takes throw ins on the goal line in netball
Best person would be the GK if its for the defence – if the attack takes the throw in – coaches normally use the GA.
