Throwing the Ball against the net……
After releasing the ball, a player may not replay the ball until it has
been touched by another player or it rebounds from the goalpost. [Rule 9.4.1 (iv)]
Important to take into account with this rule is that the net is part of the goal post.
That allows a player on court to throw the ball against the net and catching the ball again – this is not replay.
It also allows a player taking a Throw In to throw the ball against the net – step onto court – catch the ball and carry on playing.
If a player touches the goal post is it classed as a foul.
No infringement. Only if you at that time are defending the shot at goal or if you have possession of the ball and use the goal post for balance.
