BALL OUT OF COURT (Rule 8.3)
- Be aware of any event regulations relating to balls leaving the court area. Some balls are placed on cones and the players can just take the nearest ball.
- If the ball is out of court and leaves the field of play, glance back to see if the ball is being retrieved quickly and consider whether you need to HOLD TIME.
- Hold time consistently throughout the match when the ball leaves the field of play.
- What is the Field of play? It consists of the court and the court surround (area where the umpire’s move).
- If play is outdoors the ball might be wet or dirty when the ball roles far away from the court. Hold time and ask for a towel and clean/dry it or take the reserve ball on the Technical Table. Remember to restart play.
